José Niemetz

ARGENTINA, 1962

José Niemetz, a writer, professor and bookseller, was born in the city of Mendoza, Argentina in 1962 and currently lives in the same province, near General Alvear. He has undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Literature from the Universidad de Cuyo. Later on he obtained another postgraduate degree in Reading, Writing and Education from FLACSO (the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences).

He is currently a professor and owner of the bookshop Había una vez in General Alvear. Tú eres para mí (You’re for Me), his first novel, won the 2018 Premio Clarín Novela and marks a spectacular entrance into the world of literature. It was praised by writers such as Almudena Grandes and Guadalupe Nettel, who have compared him to Stephen King at his best. Niemetz still has a few unpublished novels in his desk drawers and is working on several different literary projects.
