The novel takes place in the late seventies and returns to the characters of Brushstrokes of Jet Black, especially Naiquen, Lihuén's cousin, now a grown woman who has left her home town in the Province of Rio Negro along her two small sons to flee an abusive husband. In Buenos Aires she reunites with her cousin Lihuén and the rest of her maternal family. They will help her to start a new life, but someone is hunting for her.
It won't take long for Naiquen to go into exile. With her goes Libertad, Lihuén's youngest daughter. They both begin new lives in France. Will the hunter track down the woman he hates so much? Will vengeance be done? And can Naiquén bring herself to give her heart for a second time?
