Onelli's Madness

Leopoldo Brizuela

NOVEL. BAJO LA LUNA, 2012. 110 PAGES.

Salvatore Onelli, adopted child of the Italian-Argentine naturalist and director of La Plata Zoo, decides to leave the town around 1932 when authorities do not let an Indian servant to be buried. He goes to a place that only him knows, followed by two colleagues and a hundred of animals that escort the body of the Indian, the last survivor of the Inacayal Clan.

We get to know the versions -sketchy- about this curious trip through several sources: notes, testimonies, press, legal documents, rumors, and even the story of some of the animals that escort the Indian princess. The different points of view combined with the historical documents reconstruct a narrative that transforms the so-called delirium of a man in a real epic legend.
