Isidoro Blaisten was one of the most subtle story writers of his time. He had an extraordinary sense of humour, an exquisite feel for the colloquial and was capable of sudden, unexpected flashes of poetry. In 1983, at the age of fifty, he published Anticonferencias, a unique, inimitable book combining reflections on poetry and autobiography in which his characteristically relaxed style and lyricism come to the fore as he addresses subjects such as humour, ethics, money, creativity, loneliness, women, politics and literature.
"To read is to accept a convention: the reader shall be ingenuous enough to believe in the fictions, lies or magic that someone has created with words and willing to negotiate all the dangers that come with it in their quest for the ultimate goal: happiness." ISIDORO BLAISTEN
