Agustina Bazterrica was born in Buenos Aires in 1974. She has a degree in Art from the University of Buenos Aires, and works as a cultural administrator and organizer of literary competitions such as the Premio Fondo Nacional de las Artes.
She has published the short story collections Antes del encuentro feroz (2016) and Nineteen Claws and a Dark Bird (2023) and the novels Matar a la niña (2013) and Tender is the Flesh (2020; Winner of the Clarín Award for the Novel). The latter made her a global bestseller with over half a million copies sold in Argentina, Spain, France, Finland, Germany, the UK and the United States, among other countries. Tender is the Flesh has been translated into over 25 languages and won Bazterrica international acclaim from such outlets as The New York Times, The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Le Monde and O Globo. It is currently being adapted for TV and Film.
