Hour 25

Jorge Lanata

NARRATIVE, 2008. ALFAGUARA, 2008. 288 PAGES.

Loose pages, confessional poems, short and long texts, wandering reflections, photos taken by the author, letters, obsessions. Hour 25 is an unbridled journey into Lanata's private world as well as an encounter with his most popular texts.

Ranging through different genres and periods, this ambitious journey lingers on the lights of television and the city centre as seen during a childhood in Sarandí, the mystery of women and paternity, addiction, tobacco, betrayal and impotence in the face of death, featuring anecdotes about practicing journalism in Argentina and some of the stories that have defined the idiosyncrasies of the nation.

Hour 25 was Lanata's most literary and intimate programme and he had no doubt that it should be the title of this collection of private and public texts from the past twenty years. Twenty years of early morning jottings, questions asked aloud in solitude and lucid, insightful visions.
